FESCO Transportation Group (“FESCO”, the “Group”, a company managed by State Corporation Rosatom) has redirected intermodal container shipments from Ankara to St. Petersburg (previously destined for Novorossiysk).

The new end‑to‑end route includes regular rail dispatches from the Turkish capital to the port of Gebze with further delivery to St. Petersburg by FESCO sea services. The first cargo batch of 40 TEU was dispatched from Ankara on September 19. After arriving in Gebze the containers were reloaded onto a vessel of the Group bound for the Northern capital of Russia. Estimated transit time for the entire transportation is about 20 days.
After processing at the port of Saint Petersburg, FESCO can organize further delivery of Turkish cargo to other regions of Russia using its own road and rail route network.
The intermodal route operates in the opposite direction as well and can be used to transport Russian export products to central regions of Turkey. In addition, FESCO can organize road delivery of cargo from Ankara to warehouses of consignees in the Central Anatolia region.
“We have adapted the logistics scheme of transportations from Ankara by retaining the railway leg to Gebze and by changing the port of destination in Russia to ensure stable supplies from central Turkey to our customers. To date, FESCO is the only container operator offering direct intermodal deliveries from the capital of Turkey to St. Petersburg. This route reveals new logistics opportunities for our customers. With our own truck fleet and a developed network of FESCO railway services we are ready to ensure transportations of goods well into the Russian territory: not only to the north‑western and central regions, but also to the south of the country,” noted German Maslov, Deputy Director General, Liner and Logistics Division of FESCO.
